MJ is a Denver-based artist finishing their senior year at DU as a Fine Arts major. Their work predominantly consists of metal, wood, drawing, mixed media, and forms of printmaking.

 

At its core, MJ's work centers the themes of embracing authenticity, individuality, identity, and human experience from the perspective of reclamation of narratives pushed upon one by their surroundings. Being raised Christian but not holding current religious affiliation, their work frequently reclaims religious imagery as a form of empowerment concerning sub-themes of identity, mental health, mortality, and  consciousness.
